OTTAWA, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on all Liberal MPs to vote in favour of today’s motion to remove the carbon tax from all home heating fuels.
“All Canadians need carbon tax relief this winter,” said Franco Terrazzano, CTF Federal Director. “The Conservatives and the NDP say they will help all Canadians, now Liberal MPs must do what’s right and vote to remove the carbon tax from everyone’s home heating bills.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is removing the carbon tax from home heating oil for three years. However, that carbon tax relief only helps three per cent of Canadian homes.
Today, MPs are set to vote on the motion to remove the carbon tax from everyone’s home heating bills. The Conservatives and the NDP said they will support the motion.
Removing the federal carbon tax from natural gas would save the average home about $300 this year and about $1,100 over three years.
“Will Liberal MPs help their constituents keep the heat on this winter or is remaining loyal to the prime minister more important to them?” Terrazzano said. “MPs must vote for the fair and simple solution: give all Canadians carbon tax relief.”
